Checking in

Just checking in.  Went out of town over the weekend.  Most of you are friends on facebook so you already know the story.  For the rest of you, the shop that worked on our car last week didn't tighten the bolts in the brakes and one of the brakes came apart while we were driving and upon further inspection by someone else, the bolts on the other side weren't tightened either.  Basically if the brake pads or bolts would have fallen into the wrong place the wheel would have locked up and it would have been ugly.  The guy that fixed our car was very careless and it could have been deadly.  We know that God took care of us that night.  We were lucky to even have working brakes because of the way the wire was all twisted.  Another issue (thanks to Firestone) because the guy allowed the brake wire to get all twisted and kinked.  If it had gotten cut or caught on something it could have caused us to lose our brakes all together.  That was on the way there and the rest of the weekend wasn't much better.  Nothing bad happened the rest of the weekend but it just wasn't really fun.  We didn't feel like we made any memories.  Just a boring weekend in a not so great hotel.

School is going very well for the kids.  They love their teachers and are doing very well on all of their work.  My class is going well.  I feel like I'm finally getting a little organized.  My table is finally cleared off so I can get some assessments done.  I'm still not sure how long I will be there so I'm just trying to go a week at a time until I find out.  I want to be organized for the next teacher so I'm trying to get all the assessments done and keep track of everything so it is clear and easy to find and understand.

This weekend is Andrew's last basketball game.  I have to get everything ready for the party that afternoon.  Speaking of party.....I need to order the cupcakes.  Supposed to do that 2 days in advance.  Guess tomorrow is the day!  Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

  2. Really glad that the brake issue didn't turn out as bad as it could have! Rest of trip may not be made of good memories just because that turned out to be the highlight! So sorry you all had that experience!
Glad everyone's enjoying school! Just do your job like it was yours. That way, I know everything will be in place to the next teacher in case they don't offer it to you, or you decide to quit wearing one of your multiply hats!
    Love to all! Dad
